In 2011, I spent 4 months volunteering in Nepal with Tevel b'Tzedek. Based in Kathmandu, I worked with leaders in the local youth movement on developing leadership skills and program planning. It was an eye opening introduction to the world of international development and social justice. I made life-long friends, learned to take a bucket shower and live without electricity, jumped of a 525ft bridge, and most importantly challenged myself in ways I never thought imaginable.
"Tevel b'Tzedek (Earth - In Justice) is an Israel based non-profit organization promoting social and environmental justice. Our mission is to create a community of Israeli and Diaspora Jews engaging in the urgent issues of global poverty, marginalization and environmental devastation from a place of deep commitment to the Jewish people and its ethical and spiritual traditions."
